This is a French Art Deco period advertising poster for the famous Tabarin Music Hall in Paris, by Jean-Dominique van Caulaert. This music hall was home of the joyous and infamous Can-Can dance. The poster is a vibrantly colored image composed of blues, yellows, whites and greens, with bold purple art deco styled block lettering at the bottom. In the center of the poster is a smiling woman dancing; she is in motion, with her skirt lifted up to expose her black stockings and heels. It is a beautiful image that encapsulates the appeal of the Tabarin Music Hall in Paris during the 1940s.
