French Vintage PLM Travel Poster ‘Menton’ by D’Alesi, c.1890s
SOLD
Out of stock
Cote D’Azur Menton. Paris Lyon Mediterrain.
Pictured is a woman in red gazing into the distance on the veranda. Below is the harbor of Menton, with a basilica of Saint-Michel-Archange behind. Two big trees hang over her, and other beautiful palm trees and plants surround her. The sun is glazing over her from the side; pure ecstasy!
You can see some sailboats in the water, as well as a reflection of the town.
D’Alesi was known for his paint-like style, as seen in this photo. A clear sign of this is how well the sunshine correlates on the several objects throughout (the varanda, her dress, the tree).
