French Vintage Advertising Poster ‘Carmen-Metropolitan Opera’ by Marc Chagall, 1967
SOLD
Out of stock
A very good impression with strong colors. This image is a detail of the preparatory sketch for one of the two large paintings, “The Triumph of Music”, located in the lobby of the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln center. Executed by Charles Sorlier under the complete supervision of Marc Chagall. This is an impression from the editions of 3,000 with text. While the date on the poster says 1966, it was actually produced at the same time as the other poster “The Magic Flute” in 1967 for the inauguration of the theatre.
Published by Editions of the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Ref. Les affiches de Marc Chagall. p. 109. and Ref. CS # 39.
