Exhibition opened on May 6th, 1931 in Bois de Vincennes, in the Eastern suburbs of Paris. The government of France brought artisans from their several Colonies to create native arts and crafts, and to create pavilions to display their local culture. Other countries like the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, UK and the US also joined.
This colonial exhibition tried to portray the French in a positive manner as exchanging cultures.
In the poster, you can see on each side ‘Round the World in One Day’.
There were between 7 and 9 million visitors from around the world!
