Dutch Cab Calloway Vintage Advertising Poster at the Carlton Hotel, 1934

Cabell Calloway III (Cab Calloway) [12/25/1907-11/18/1994], was an American Jazz Singer and band-leader who frequented the Cotton Club, and other popular venues in the 30s and 40s. His band featured famous instrumentalists Dizzy Gillespie, The Doc, Ben Webster, Chu, Danny Barker, and Milt Hinton.
This poster is advertising a concert at the Carlton hotel. Cab was appearing at the Amsterdam Hotel from the 10th-15th of April, but presumably due to his wild success, the stamp on the bottom margin of the poster claims to have extended his performances one additional day (the 16th).
This poster has a cartoonish vibe that includes bright yellow/red/green colors that really make it stick out. Cab is pictured playing a banjo.
