American Vintage Novel Poster ‘The Man From Glengarry’, 1900

This is a rare American advertising poster for the novel, “Man from Glengarry” by Ralph Connor. This poster features a Japanese woodblock inspired image of a man paddling down a river, with the outline of a pine forest behind him. The majority of the poster contains bold typography that provides information on the book which it advertises. Ralph Connor, also known as Rev. Dr. Charles William Gordon, was a Canadian novelist and church leader. He was born in Glengarry County in Ontario, and used the pen name Ralph Connor. Although Connor is now a relatively obscure author, within his lifetime he sold more than 5 million copies of his written work.
